Born as Olivier Michael Saint-Jean, Abdul-Wahad played for the University of Michigan. However, he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 1997 while he was playing college basketball for the San Jose State College. Chris Gatling to the Denver Nuggets. He joined the team for the following two seasons before transferring to the Dallas Mavericks in 2002 with Don Nelson as their coach for that season. His defensive strategy in playing the game was very advantageous to the team he played for. According to his records, one of the highlights of his professional career is scoring ten points and six rebounds in a game against the Mavericks during his first NBA year.
