New Yorker Taj Gibson is a professional basketball player. In 2009, he was acquired as starting forward for the Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association. Gibson was born in Brooklyn, New York and went to Telecommunications High before he transferred to California where he attended Stoneridge Prep. He transferred to Calvary Christian during his senior year.
Gibson decided to attend the University of Southern California where he played college baseball. He was selected to be part of the Pac-10 All Freshman Team. The USC won against the UCLA in 2008. In 2009, the Trojans won the Tournament Championship which allowed Gibson to be selected as part of the All-Pac 10 Tournament Team.
During the 2009 NBA Draft, Gibson was selected by the Chicago Bulls during the first round of the draft. Gibson was the 26th overall pick. During his rookie year in the NBA, Gibson was immediately made starting power forward in most of the games.
The Bulls went all the way to the playoffs in 2009 and with Gibson posting an average of 7.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Gibson was named into the NBA All-Rookie Team by the end of the season. Gibson averaged 9.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 1.3 bpg during his first season in the NBA.
