Taffy Wright (full name: Taft Shedron Wright; no nicknames) played rightfielder from 1938 until 1949 for the Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Athletics. He played for the Senators from 1938 - 1939, White Sox from 1940 - 1948 and Athletics in 1949. Over 9 seasons, he played 1029 games, hit 38 home runs, drove in 465 runs, and stole 32 bases. Born on August 10, 1911 in Tabor City, NC (All Transactions), Wright stood 5' 10" and weighed 180 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 18, 1938 and he played his final game on September 16, 1949. Common misspellings of his name include Taft Shedron Taffy Wright.
