About Stubby Overmire:
Stubby Overmire (full name: Frank W. Overmire; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1943 until 1952 for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees. He played for the Tigers from 1943 - 1949, Browns from 1950 - 1952 and Yankees in 1951. Over 10 seasons, he started 137 games, won 58 games, struck out 301 batters, and had a 3.96 ERA. Born on May 16, 1919 in Moline, MI, Overmire stood 5' 7" and weighed 170 lb. He attended Lee (Grand Rapids, MI) high school. His debut was on April 25, 1943 and he played his final game on August 3, 1952. Common misspellings of his name include Frank Stubby W. Overmire.
