About Steve Henderson Memorabilia & Collectibles

 Steve Henderson is a retired professional baseball player and is most popular for being part of the “Midnight Massacre”. Henderson occupied the left fielder position while playing in the Major League Baseball and is from Houston, Texas. Henderson was acquired by the Cincinnati Reds during the 1974 amateur draft and was assigned to play for the Billings Mustang Pioneer League during his very first year of turning pro.

 

Henderson was able to move up the ladder, playing for the Tampa Tarpons, Trois-Rivieres Aigles, and then Indianapolis Indians before being acquired by the New York Mets during the “Midnight Massacre” in 1977. Henderson was able to make his MLB debut while playing for the Mets and was able to appear in a total of 99 games during his very first season in the league. Henderson had a great rookie season in the MLB and finished second during the 1977 NL Rookie of the Year voting.

 

After playing for the Mets for a total of three seasons, Henderson was traded to the Chicago Cubs. While playing for the Cubs, Henderson was able to come up with a batting average of .293. He played for a total of two seasons before signing to the Oakland Athletics.

Steve Henderson (full name: Steven Curtis Henderson; no nicknames) played leftfielder from 1977 until 1988 for the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros. He played for the Mets from 1977 - 1980, Cubs from 1981 - 1982, Mariners from 1983 - 1984, Athletics from 1985 - 1987 and Astros in 1988. Over 12 seasons, he played 1085 games, hit 68 home runs, drove in 459 runs, and stole 79 bases. Born on November 18, 1952 in Houston, TX, Henderson stands 6' 2" and weighs 190 lb. He attended Jack Yates (Houston, TX) high school and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 5th round of the 1974 amateur draft. His debut was on June 16, 1977 and he played his final game on September 28, 1988. Over his career, Henderson made $825,000. Common misspellings of his name include Steven Curtis Steve hendersen Henderson.
