Steve Avery (full name: Steven Thomas Avery; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1990 until 2003 for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. He played for the Braves from 1990 - 1996, Red Sox from 1997 - 1998, Reds in 1999 and Tigers in 2003. Over 11 seasons, he started 261 games, won 96 games, struck out 980 batters, and had a 4.19 ERA. Born on April 14, 1970 in Trenton, MI, Avery stands 6' 4" and weighs 180 lb. He attended Kennedy (Taylor, MI) high school and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 1st round (3rd pick) of the 1988 amateur draft. His debut was on June 13, 1990 and he played his final game on July 20, 2003. Over his career, Avery made $21,625,000. Common misspellings of his name include Steven Steve Thomas Avery avory.
