Because of his exemplary performance, Musial topped the National League and was awarded National League Most Valuable Player in years 1943, ’46, ’48, and ’57. When he retired in 1963, he had the record for 17 major leagues, 9-All-star and 29 National league games. Thus in 1969, he got inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1968 Musial’s statue was out up outside St. Louis’ Busch Memorial Stadium. “Here stands baseball's perfect warrior. Here stands baseball's perfect knight” was the encraved quote in that statue taken from Ford Frick, a former baseball commissioner.
