Ranked number four for a career managerial wins in the Major League Baseball is Sparky Anderson. Born on February 22, 1934 in Bridgewater, South Dakota, he is the first manager to covet a World Series while heading clubs at the same time.
In 1959 he played in the Major League for the Philadelphia Phillies as second baseman. Averaging only with .218, his career in the big-league did not prosper. In 1969, Anderson who has the Sparky Anderson autographed 1975 World Series bat as a cool memorabilia, made a comeback in the majors as San Diego Padres Coach before he was named Reds manager. With him heading the Reds, he was able to make 102 victorious games. In 1975 though, the Reds took everyone in awe as they won 108 games and then grabbed the National League Championship Series and won over the Boston Red Sox in the seven-game World Series. On June 14, 1979, Anderson was hired as manager of the Detroit Tigers. This paved way for the team to get a winning streak beating the Kansas City Royals in the American League Championship Series. The Tigers also won over San Diego Padres in the World Series. This is Anderson’s third world title.
After his retirement in the 1995 season, Anderson was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. He also got elected in the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame which makes the Sparky Anderson autographed 1975 World Series bat a real gem to many fans.
