Earl John “Sparky” Adams is from Pottsville, Pennsylvania and an infielder in the
Major League Baseball. He was considered the smallest player in the Major League with a height of five feet for and a half inches only. He debuted his MLB career with the Chicago Cubs on the 18th of September 1922 and has played for 5 years with the Cubs. After his contract with the Cubs ended, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Pete Scott. A year after, he signed up for the
St. Louis Cardinals for three years and won the 1931 World Series together with the Cardinals. His last game appearance was with the
Cincinnati Reds on September 30, 1934. Sparky Adams has posted a .286 in win-loss record, 1588 hits, 396 runs in batted in and a total of 154 stolen bases. After his baseball career, he worked as a service station operator and farmer in Pennsylvania. He died on February 24, 1989 at the age of 94.

He played for the Cardinals from 1932 - 1933 and Reds from 1933 - 1934. Over 13 seasons, he played 1424 games, hit 9 home runs, drove in 844 runs, and stole 154 bases. Born on August 26, 1894 in Zerbe, PA, Adams stood 5' 5" and weighed 151 lb. He attended Tremont (Tremont, PA) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on September 18, 1922 and he played his final game on September 30, 1934. Common misspellings of his name include Earl John Sparky Adams.
