About Soldier Field Memorabilia & Collectibles
The grand Soldier Field can be found in Chicago, Illinois and was once named as the Municipal Grant Park Stadium in 1924. The name Soldier Field was given to the stadium in 1925 which became very appropriate since the stadium was designed to honor American soldiers who had offered their lives in different wars.
The Soldier Field used to be venue for the College All-Star Game until the exhibition discontinued in 1976. The Chicago Bears made the stadium its home in 1971. In that same year, the grass in the stadium was exchanged for AstroTurf. It was only in 1988 when grass would again cover the surface of the Soldier Field.
After the stadium’s renovation in 2003, the Chicago Bears decided to stick with Soldier Field. The new design of the stadium earned for it the nickname of “Spaceship on Soldier Field”. The Soldier Field can accommodate 61,500 people.
