Snuffy Stirnweiss (full name: George Henry Stirnweiss; no nicknames) played second baseman, third baseman and shortstop from 1943 until 1952 for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns and Cleveland Indians. He played for the Yankees from 1943 - 1950, Browns in 1950 and Indians from 1951 - 1952. Over 10 seasons, he played 1028 games, hit 29 home runs, drove in 604 runs, and stole 134 bases. Born on October 26, 1918 in New York, NY, Stirnweiss stood 5' 8" and weighed 175 lb. He attended Fordham Prep (Bronx, NY) high school. His debut was on April 22, 1943 and he played his final game on May 3, 1952. Common misspellings of his name include George Henry Snuffy sternweiss Stirnweiss.
