Simon Gagne is a professional ice hockey player. He is a currently playing for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL. He has been playing for the Flyers since 1998 when they drafted him straight from the 1998 NHL Draft. Gagne is the alternate captain and the left wing for the team. A Canadian, he was born in Sainte-Foy, Quebec.
Gagne appeared in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League when he was just 16 and played for the Beauport Harfangs. After two seasons, he decided to sign with the Quebec Ramparts and was selected into the Second-Team for the All-Star Team in 1998. He also received the Paul Dumont Trophy.
After being drafted by the Flyers, Gagne was able to participate in his first Eastern Conference Finals in 1999 against the New Jersey Devils. After posting 27 goals, 32 assists and appearing in 69 games, Gagne was named into the NHL All-Star Game in 2000. Following a lockout, Gagne received the Bobby Clarke Trophy and was named into his second All-Star Game in 2006.
In 2010, the Flyers were finally able to clinch the playoffs and made it to the Eastern Conference Final. It was Gagne who made the winning goal in Game 7 that would make the Flyers advance.
