Shanty Hogan (full name: James Francis Hogan; no nicknames) played catcher from 1932 until 1937 for the New York Giants, Boston Braves and Washington Senators. He played for the Giants in 1932, Braves from 1933 - 1935 and Senators from 1936 - 1937. Over 13 seasons, he played 989 games, hit 61 home runs, drove in 288 runs, and stole 6 bases. Born on March 21, 1906 in Somerville, MA, Hogan stood 6' 1" and weighed 240 lb. He attended Somerville (Somerville, MA) high school. His debut was on June 23, 1925 and he played his final game on June 13, 1937. Common misspellings of his name include James Francis Shanty Hogan.
