Spencer’s baseball career in the Major Leagues started in September 1998. He was 26 years old then. This professional baseball debut was for the New York Yankees. In 2005, Spencers signed a contract for the Hanshin Tigers in the Japanese Central League where he played 108 games and made 9 home runs. His service for the Tigers continued until he was fired in 2006. This was his last for the Japanese Central League. Due to some off-field troubles he had after leaving the Yankees, Major League team owners have been hesitant of getting him on a contract.
