Samuel Lee Horn is a retired professional baseball player who was born on November 2, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. He appeared in the Major Baseball League for eight seasons. Before starting his professional career, he played for the Samuel F.B. Morse High School. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 1982 MLB amateur draft and recorded a .278 batting average and scored 14 home runs as a rookie in the league. His first Major League Baseball game was on July 25, 1987 for the Boston Red Sox. A left-handed batter and thrower, he played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1990 to 1992 and the Cleveland Indians in 1993. He was signed by the Texas Rangers in 1995. After his final game in the major league on September 20, 1995, he played for the Tiapei Gida of the Taiwan Major League. While in the said league, he was the highest paid baseball player in the history of the country’s league. His name Horn, means the act of striking out six times which he did in 1992.

 

 

After his professional playing career, he went to work for the New England Sports Network as a post0game analyst. He also owns a baseball training center in East Greenwich.

He played for the Red Sox from 1987 - 1989, Orioles from 1990 - 1992, Indians in 1993 and Rangers in 1995. Over 8 seasons, he played 389 games, hit 62 home runs, drove in 132 runs, and stole 0 bases. Born on November 2, 1963 in Dallas, TX, Horn stands 6' 5" and weighs 215 lb. He attended Morse (San Diego, CA) high school and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 1st round (16th pick) of the 1982 amateur draft. His debut was on July 25, 1987 and he played his final game on September 20, 1995. Over his career, Horn made $1,125,000. Common misspellings of his name include Samuel Lee Sam sammy samuel Horn.
