About Ryan Rowland Smith Memorabilia & Collectibles
Ryan Benjamin Rowland- Smith is a professional baseball player for the Seattle Mariners of the Major League Baseball from Australia. He is the first player from Newcastle High School to sign a professional contract. During his high school years, he was named as the Baseball Player of the Year twice.
Rowland- Smith started his professional career with the Peoria Mariners of the Arizona League and then played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Everett AquaSox. He also played for the Inland Empire 66ers and was named to the Midwest League All- Star team. He joined Team Australia in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He helped his team reach the finals where unfortunately they lost to Team Cuba thus getting the silver medal. He then signed with the Minnesota Twins in 2005 then was shortly returned to Seattle. He was part of Team Australia once again in 2006 for the World Baseball Classic. In 2007, he appeared in his first major league game against the Cincinnati Reds. He also played against the Minnesota Twins and achieved his first major league win against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. His 1st major league start was in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008 and in 2009 played against the Colorado Rockies during spring training. At present, he has a 12- 16 win- loss record, with a 4.28 earned run average and 205 strikeouts.
