Ryan James Howard is a professional baseball player born on November 19, 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a left handed batter and thrower who was drafted in the 5th round of the 2001 MLB amateur draft. He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies and started to exhibit his pull hitting skills in the minor leagues. While playing for the Phillies’ minor league teams, he was given numerous recognitions as a consistent Most Valuable Player in the Eastern League.
Howard made his major league debut on September 1, 2004 for the Philadelphia Phillies and had his first hit on September 6 against the Atlanta Braves. He made his first MLB home run on September 11 when he also has his first win in the major league over the New York Mets.

He won the 2008 World Series Championship in 2008 and was again named as the MVP in the NL Championship Series in 2009.
