Ruud Van Nistelrooy is a Dutch professional soccer player who currently plays as a striker for the Hamburg Sport-Verein in the German professional league. Van Nistelrooy is the second-highest goalscorer in the history of Champions League having 60 goals. Van Nistelrooy started his soccer career with Den Bosch, before joining Heerenveen. After leaving the Heerenveen, Van Nistelrooy eventually made a name for himself at PSV Eindhoven where he won two Dutch leagues.

Van Nistelrooy’s scoring record at PSV Eindhoven was noticed by the Manchester United; a deal was then placed in the summer of 2000. However, due to injury problems the deal was secured a year later. In his first season, Van Nistelrooy had 23 goals in 32 games which broke the record he shared with Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, and Mark Stein. In the beginning of the 2005–06 seasons, Van Nistelrooy scored in United's first four Premier League games finishing as the second highest scorer behind Thierry Henry of the Arsenal.

During his career with the United, Van Nistelrooy was successful to win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and FA Community Shield, along with winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for two times. Towards the end of Van Nistelrooys’s tenure in the United, the Real Madrid then secured his services in 2006. Van Nistelrooy won the Pichichi award as Real Madrid took home the 2006–07 title. Van Nistelrooy also equaled the longest consecutive scoring streak in La Liga, tying a record with Hugo Sanchez. Although an injury shattered the end of his days with Madrid, Van Nistelrooy managed to win La Liga two times and the Supercopa de España before he signed for Hamburg in 2010.
