About Rusty Wallace Memorabilia & Collectibles
Rasheed Abdul Wallace is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was born on September 17, 1974. He attended Simon Gratz High School and played collegiate basketball with the University of North Carolina.
In high school, he won the High School Player of the Year by USA Today and was chosen first team All America by Basketball Times. During his college career, Wallace achieved success in the national stage and was the leader in field goal shooting in his second year. He, together with Jerry Stackhouse, led the Tar Heels in their campaign in the 1995 NCAA Final Four. He was selected 4th overall in the 1st round of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets.
After playing for the Bullets, Wallace was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. He suffered from a broken thumb in the middle of the season but he eventually recovered and helped the team against the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, the Blazers still lost. During his stay with the Blazers, he joined the All Star team in 2000 and 2001 and was the leader in the Blazers’ feat in the 1999 and 2000 Western Conference Finals which they fought against the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers, respectively.
By 2004, Wallace was traded to the Atlanta Hawks for which he played only one game. This was a game lost to the New Jersey Nets. He was then traded to the Boston Celtics then to the Detroit Pistons. He was crucial to the Pistons’ unexpected win of the 2004 NBA championship. By 2009, he was traded to the Boston Celtics and helped lead the team to the 2010 NBA Finals which they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
