About Rubin Carter Memorabilia & CollectiblesRubin Carter who is better known as the “Hurricane” is one of the most distinguished boxing icons of all time. He hails from Paterson, New Jersey and was born on May 6, 1937. Though Carter is remembered to have had several assaults done in his early age, he is still recognized well for is intense skill and passion in the ring. He had been imprisoned for a number of times and was even sent to the army. However, he did not see any satisfaction in serving the army and when Rubin Carter was released; he found much sense in the boxing ring.
With Rubin Carter’s killer moves and amazing techniques, he was tagged as the “Hurricane”. He had beaten a couple of other well-known boxing personalities such as Holley Mims and George Benton. He had also defeated an incredible boxer named Emile Griffith. This came as a surprise to everyone since the latter had been establishing his name so well in the history of boxing.
Later in 1993, Rubin Carter had been awarded as part of the Hall of Fame in New Jersey Boxing League and was given the World Boxing title belt in the same year. Other names who made it also in the hall of fame list are the incredible icon, Muhammad Ali, and the amazing boxing champ Joe Frazier. For his career standing, he was able to set a record of 27 wins and 12 losses in the boxing arena. He had also set 19 total knockouts.
