Ron Wilson is a former Canadian pro ice hockey athlete who was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and is currently the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League. Wilson played as defence for the Minnesota North Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL and for the HC Davos and Kloten Flyers of the Swiss League.
Wilson originally began his pro hockey career after he was drafted by the Houston Aeros of the Western Hockey Association in the 1974 WHA Draft, but a year after, he was drafted in the NHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1975 NHL Draft. Wilson was occasionally used during his three season stint with the Maple Leafs before spending six years in Switzerland playing in the Swiss League for the HC Davos and Kloten Flyers.
After retiring in his playing career in 1988, Wilson started his coaching career, beginning with Vancouver Canucks where he served as an assistant coach in 1990. After he spent three seasons with the Canucks, Wilson was named as the first coach of the expansion Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 1993, where he coached the team for four years before coaching for other teams; the Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ron Wilson (full name: Ron Wilson; no nicknames) played center from 1980 until 1994 for the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens. He played for the Jets from 1980 - 1988, Blues from 1990 - 1993 and Canadies in 1994. Over 14 seasons, he played 832 games, scored 110 goals, and made 216 assists. Born in Toronto, Ontario on May 13, 1956, Wilson stands 5-9 and weighs 180 lbs. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the 13th round (133rd overall) of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft.
