About Ron Pruitt Memorabilia & Collectibles


Ron Pruitt is a former professional baseball player. Ron Pruitt was born in Flint, Michigan where he attended Flint Central High School in which he made a three-sport standout which includes: baseball, basketball, and football. Pruitt attended Michigan State University for his college education, and received Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Exercise Science.

 

Pruitt started his professional career in the Major League Baseball when he was drafted by the Texas Rangers. He was the 2nd round pick of the team in the 1972 amateur draft. He made his debut on June 25, 1975. Pruitt bats and throws with his right, and is listed at 6 ft. and 185 lbs., and plays as an outfielder, pinch hitter and catcher. On December 9, 1975 Pruitt was traded by the Texas Rangers along with Stan Thomas to the Cleveland Indians for John Ellis. On June 13, 1980 he was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Chicago White Sox for Alan Bannister. On April 7, 1981 he was released by the Chicago White Sox, and on April 19, 1981 he signed as Free Agent with the Cleveland Indians. On January 19, 1982 Pruitt was released by the Cleveland Indians and signed as Free Agent with the San Francisco Giants on February 16, 1982. He was later released by the Giants on April 14, 1983, five days after his final game in April 9 of the same year.

 

According to sources, throughout his professional baseball career, in 9 seasons he played in 341 Games and had 795 At Bats, 88 Runs, 214 Hits, 28 Doubles, 4 Triples, 12 Home Runs, 92 RBI, 8 Stolen Bases, 94 Walks, .269 Batting Average, .345 On-base percentage, .360 Slugging Percentage, 286 Total Bases, 7 Sacrifice Hits, 7 Sacrifice Flies and 7 Intentional Walks.

He played for the Rangers in 1975, Indians from 1976 - 1981, White Sox in 1980 and Giants from 1982 - 1983. Over 9 seasons, he played 341 games, hit 12 home runs, drove in 88 runs, and stole 8 bases. Born on October 21, 1951 in Flint, MI, Pruitt stands 6' 0" and weighs 185 lb. He attended high school and was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2nd round of the 1972 amateur draft. His debut was on June 25, 1975 and he played his final game on April 9, 1983. Common misspellings of his name include Ronald Ralph Ron ronnie Pruitt.
