Ronald Peter Perranoski, or Ron, played for 12 years for the Major League Baseball as a former relief pitcher was born in Paterson, New Jersey in April 1, 1936. He grew up and attended Fair Lawn High School, and later attended Michigan State University.
Perranoski's baseball career started in 1961 through 1973. Perranoski was playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963 where he won 16 of 19 relief decisions. His team won the World Series in 1963 for four consecutive games against the New York Yankees. Perranoski earned a save after he appeared that season for one World Series game.
While at Michigan State University, Perranoski met and befriended his teammate Dick Radatz, one of the standout relievers in the 1960s. When Perranoski's baseball career ended, he became the pitching coordinator of the Dodger's minor league from 1973 all the way to 1980. Perranoski spent the next 14 years or from 1981 until 1994 as the pitching coach for the MLB Los Angeles Dodgers for 14 seasons. The following year, Perranoski became the pitching coordinator for the minor league of San Francisco Giants but he was promoted as a bench coach in 1997. He returned to coach pitching from 1998 to 1999. Since 2000, Perranoski has been serving as general manager Brian Sabean's special assistant.
