He attended Druid Hills (Decatur, GA) high school and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1967 amateur draft. His debut was on September 10, 1969 and he played his final game on October 1, 1978. Over his career, Blomberg made $647,500.
