Cedeno was a non-draft amateur free agent when he was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the year 1991. He then had his debut in 1995. He was said to be the heir apparent to Brett Butler who was a veteran All-Star outfielder of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cedeno has also played with the New York Mets in 1999, 2002-2003, Houston Astros in the year 2000, and Detroit Tigers in 2001. It was in 2004 when he was traded to the Mets. He had a best season in 2004 in the National League Championship Series. Cedeno was singled to lead off the challenging sixth inning during game seven. He was able to post a .158 batting average. The Cardinals then decided to release him during the 2005 season.
Cedeno then agreed to sign a contract in minor league with the Baltimore Orioles in the year 2007. It was on March 23, 2007 when he was released by the Orioles. In his entire career, he was able to hit a .273 average with 40 home runs, 274 blazing runs batted in, and 213 stolen games all in 1,100 games.
