Roderick Dwayne Higgins, often called Rod Higgins, is a former National Basketball Association player who was born on January 31, 1960. He came from Monroe, Louisiana and is a graduate of California State University, Fresno. Listed at 6 ft. 7 in., he played as a forward and a center for a number of National Basketball Association teams which include the Chicago Bulls, the New Jersey Nets and the Seattle Supersonics. He also became a member of the San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. During his playing career, he posted an average of 9 points per game with a rebound average of 3.6 per game. Higgins was also a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He became the assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors, which he also played for, after retiring from his playing career. He stayed as the assistant coach of the team until 2000 when he became Washington Wizards’ assistant general manager. On May 20, 2004, he worked for the Golden State Warriors again as part of the front office.
Currently, Higgins is the general manager of the Charlotte Bobcats. He was hired by the Bobcats on May 31, 2007, replacing Bernie Bickerstaff who is the former general manager of the team. He also serves as an adviser to Michael Jordan who is a pert-owner of the Bobcats.

Rod Higgins (full name: Roderick Dwayne Higgins; Rod) played Forward-Center from 1983 until 1995 for the Chicago Bulls, Seattle Supersonics, San Antonio Spurs, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. Over 13 seasons, he played 779 games, scored 7011 points (9.0 ppg) and grabbed 2819 rebounds (3.6 rpg). Higgins also dished out 1254 assists (1.6 apg), made 485 steals (0.6 spg), and blocked 359 shots (0.5 bpg) during his career. Born in Monroe, Louisiana on January 31, 1960, Higgins stands 6-7 and weighs 200 lbs. He attended high school at Thornton Township in Harvey, Illinois and college at California State University, Fresno. He was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 2nd round (8th pick, 31st overall) of the 1982 NBA draft.
