Rocky Nelson (full name: Glenn Richard Nelson; no nicknames) played first baseman and leftfielder from 1949 until 1961 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Dodgers and Cleveland Indians. He played for the Cardinals from 1949 - 1956, White Sox in 1951, Pirates from 1951 - 1961, Dodgers from 1952 - 1956 and Indians in 1954. Over 9 seasons, he played 620 games, hit 31 home runs, drove in 186 runs, and stole 7 bases. Born on November 18, 1924 in Portsmouth, OH, Nelson stood 5' 10" and weighed 175 lb. He attended Portsmouth (Portsmouth, OH) high school. His debut was on April 27, 1949 and he played his final game on September 29, 1961.
