Raghib Ramadian Ismail, known as Rocket, is a former National Football League player who was born on November 18, 1969 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He played college football at University of Notre Dame but excelled in the football field of Elmer L. Meyers Junior/Senior High School. He was a significant part of the university’s win in the College Football National Championship in 1988 and as a runner up in the Orange Bowl in 1990. He was voted second for the Heisman Trophy award and was featured in the cover of the Sports Illustrated magazine twice. He was a top prospect for the 1991 NFL amateur draft but he opted to sign with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. His first rookie season was marked by a Grey Cup Most Valuable Player award with his 87-yard touchdown and was then named as a wide receiver for the 1991 All-Star team.
After his stint in the CFL, he then signed with the Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League. In his first year at the league, he recorded 353 yards and made 491 yards in 1995. He then joined the Carolina Panthers where he made a 12-4 record. In 1999, he joined the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent and recorded a career-high 1, 097 yards and six touchdowns with the team. He had his last season in 2001 and in 2002; he was released by the Cowboys and finally went to retirement.
