Born to parents Melchor Clemente and Luisa Walker at Carolina, Puerto Rico, Clemente went on to become one of the prominent names in Major League Baseball history. His family was poor, and Clemente worked hard as a youngster, delivering milk and taking other odd jobs to earn extra money for the family. But his talent could not keep him away from baseball. He was one of the real fighters of the game.
