About Roberto Clemente Equipment
Born in 1934 in a poor neighborhood of Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente Walker was the youngest of seven siblings. Apart from studying, he had to work in his childhood days to help his parents, Melchor Clemente and Luisa Walker. Still, he found time for his love and passion – baseball. He played on the sandlots of his home town in Puerto Rico until he was eighteen years old. In 1952, he joined the professional hardball team of Santurce Crabbers. In 1954, he signed up with the Los Angeles Dodgers who sent him to their minor league team in Montreal. And in 1955, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and started as their right fielder. It took some time for him to settle down but gradually he mastered the game and became a force in the MLB. He was a renowned charity worker as well. Unfortunately, in 1972, he died in an air crash while carrying reliefs for earthquake victims to Nicaragua. In 1973, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
