Robert Pressley is a retired professional race car driver who hails from Asheville, North Carolina. He learned the sport from Bob Pressley, his father who was also a race car driver in their hometown. His brother, Charley Pressley was also involved in the sport being a former crew of NASCAR races.
Pressley started out as a New Asheville Speedway racer who, at an early age, has bagged championships in the said track. His debut season in NASCAR was in 1984 when he joined the Busch Series held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In his first NASCAR race, he ranked 26th among several other racers like Sam Ard and Jack Ingram. After five years, he raced once again in the Busch Series and was able to win in the Orange County Speedway. He played regularly from 1991 to 1994 and sources say he had his finest season in 1992. He participated in the 1994 Winston Cup and used a car from Manheim Auctions, and ended up in the 31st place.
He was able to finish a finalist for the Rookie of the Year to Ricky Craven in the 1995 season. His next full time racing year came in 1998 when he participated in the Daytona International Speedway and ended in the 22nd place in the Melling Racing where he raced against Sterling Martin and Jeff Gordon. He finished his racing career in 2006 and is currently working as a driver development program head for the JTG Racing company.
