About Robert Parrish Memorabilia & Collectibles
Known for his jump shot which was always high released, Robert Lee Parish was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on the 30th of August in the year 1953. This retired basketball center was monickered by the former forward of Celtics Cedric Maxwell as “The Chief.” This was after Chief Bromden, a fictitious character of a giant but silent Native American in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This was said to be due to his stoic nature.
This 7 footer versatile center was also known for his jump shooting and strong defense. If Willis Reed was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982, Parish on the other hand was elected to it in 2003. Like Oscar Robertson, Parish was also declared as one of NBA history’s 50 Greatest Players which was in 1997.
Despite his tall stature, many were impressed with his speed and his precise shots even outside the paint and especially for his ability to finish fast breaks, considered to be very uncanny considering his size.
Also a Hall of Famer and Parish’s team mate from the year 1985 to 1987, Bill Walton once called his as the “greatest shooting big man of all time.”
Remaining active as the team consultant and Celtics’ big men’s mentor, Parish is now giving back to his fans his love by having his autographed collectibles out in the market in very reasonable prices.
Parish’s name is on occasion misspelled as Robertt Parish, Roberte Parish, Roberrt Parish, Robbert Parish, Roberth Parish, Robert Parishe and Robert Pahrish.
