Robert Keith Horry is a former National Basketball Association player who spent sixteen seasons in the league. Born on August 25, 1970 in Harford County, Maryland, he played high school basketball at Andalusia High School where he was given the Naismith Alabama High School Player of the Year award. He went to University of Alabama and played as a basketball varsity athlete where he became teammates with Latrell Sprewell. He played 133 games in college and started 108 of these games. He was included in the All-Southeastern Conference and to the All-Academic teams.
He was picked by the Houston Rockets as an 11th overall selection in the 1992 NBA Draft. He played as a small forward for the team and helped them win the NBA Championship in 1994 and 1995. Horry also played for the Phoenix Suns from 1996 to 1997 seasons and for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1997 to 2003. He was also a member of the San Antonio Spurs from 2003 to 2008. Horry was part of seven NBA Finals Championship as part of these different teams. He had two championships with the Houston Rockets, two for the San Antonio Spurs and three for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was given the name “Big Shot Rob” for his clutch shooting in the games he played. At present, Horry works for ESPN as a color commentator.
