Errick Lynne “Ricky” Williams is at present a running back playing for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He spent his college football playing for the University of Texas. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1998 for his stellar performance as a college football player.
Williams started his professional career when he was selected as 5th overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 1999 NFL Draft. He played for New Orleans for 3 seasons, helping them win their first ever playoff games against the St. Louis Rams. He had an average performance with the Saints and was eventually traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2002. Williams retired in 2004 and the returned to the Dolphins on July 2005 but violated the substance- abuse policy for the 4th time thus he was suspended for the entire 2006 season. He then signed with CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and led them in a home game win against the Tiger- Cats On June 17, 2006. He suffered from an injury in a game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on July 2006. After a grueling time trying to be reinstated in the NFL, Williams finally returned to the Miami Dolphins on November 2007 in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was injured in the said game and was momentarily put on the injured reserve list. As of Week 17 of the 2009 season, Williams has a record of 8,892 rushing yards, 4.1 average, 62 rushing touchdowns, 310 receptions, 2,382 receiving yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.
