Rick Smith (full name: Rick Smith; no nicknames) played defenseman from 1969 until 1981 for the Boston Bruins, California Golden Seals, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals. He played for the Bruins from 1969 - 1980, Golden Seals from 1972 - 1973, Blues from 1976 - 1977, Red Wings in 1981 and Capitals in 1981. Over 11 seasons, he played 687 games, scored 52 goals, and made 167 assists. Born in Kingston, Ontario on June 29, 1948, Smith stands 5-11 and weighs 190 lbs. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round (7th overall) of the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft.
