Rick Matula (full name: Richard Carlton Matula; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1979 until 1981 for the Atlanta Braves. He played for the Braves from 1979 - 1981. Over 3 seasons, he started 58 games, won 19 games, struck out 129 batters, and had a 4.41 ERA. Born on November 22, 1953 in Wharton, TX, Matula stands 6' 0" and weighs 190 lb. He attended Wharton (Wharton, TX) high school and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round of the 1976 amateur draft. His debut was on April 8, 1979 and he played his final game on June 11, 1981. Over his career, Matula made $180,000. Common misspellings of his name include Richard Carlton Rick rickey ricky Matula.
