Former American football defensive end, Richard Dent had played for the Chicago Bears. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 13, 1960. Dent was drafted by the Chicago Bears during the eighth round of the National Football League Draft in the year 1983 and was the team’s 103rd overall pick after he played at Tennessee State University for four long years. Dent then became part of the core of great players who composed the team’s defenses. He was able to record 34.5 sacks between 1984 and 1985.
During the 1985 season, Dent had led the National Football League with 17 powerful sacks while he recovered two blazing fumbles and intercepted 2 incredible passes. In a game against the New York Giants, he accomplished one of the most dominant playoff performances in the league’s history. It was in that game where he recorded 7 powerful tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 2 blazing forced fumbles. During the Super Bowl XX, Dent was chosen as the game’s Most Valuable Player when he accomplished 2 sacks, forced 2 blazing fumbles, and incredibly blocked a pass.
He then played with the San Francisco 49ers in 1994. Dent had suffered from injuries while he was with the 49ers. He then decided to spend his 1996 season with the Indianapolis Colts and in 1997 with the Philadelphia Eagles. After the 1997 season, he retired from his playing career.
