A basketball shooting guard for the National Basketball Association, Rex Everett Chapman was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky and was Kentucky Wildcats’ star. Hand in hand with Winston Bennet, they led the university in the 37th Southeastern Conference title. He joined the NBA in 1988 when he was selected in the 1st round by the Charlotte Hornets. He was the first player signed by the team. In his first try in the NBA Slam Dunk contest, he placed sixth following Dominique Wilkins. He moved on to play with the Washington Bullets in 1992 for a player trade with Tom Hammonds and played for 60 games in the 1993-94 season and another 45 games for the 1994-95 season. He was then sent to the Miami Heat and started a great season with the team. But because of injury, he got to play 56 games only and was put in the injured list. HE last played for the Phoenix Suns in the 1996-97 season until the 1999-2000 season. After suffering injury again, he decided to retire from basketball.
