Rayfield Wright is a former American pro football athlete who played in the National Football League as tight end for the Dallas Cowboys throughout his thirteen year pro football career. Wright was born in Griffin, Georgia and took his college studied when he attended the Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia where he was a standout in college football.
Wright’s pro football career began after he was drafted during the 1967 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys where he was the seventh round pick of the team. Wright got his first chance as a starter after Ralph Neely was sidelined by injury in 1969. With the amazing display of his strength, Wright won a starting role as right tackle during the 1970 training camp.
Throughout his thirteen season pro career in the NFL, Wright was a six-time Pro Bowl selection for six uninterrupted years from 1971 up to 1976. He was also a four-time All-Pro First team selection, a two-time All-pro Second team selection, two-time champions with the Cowboys in the Super Bowls VI and XII, and was a 1972 NFLPA NFC Offensive-lineman of the Year. Wright was also inducted in 2006 into Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Rayfield Wright (fullname: Larry Rayfield Wright; no nicknames) played Tight End from 1967 until 1979 for the Dallas Cowboys. He played 166 games, caught 2 passes for 27 yards and scored 1 touchdowns. Born in Griffin, GA on August 23, 1945, Wright stands 6'6 and weighs 255 lbs. He attended college at Fort Valley State. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 7th round (182nd overall) of the 1967 NFL Draft. Wright was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, finalist in 2004.
