He had his college football career in Syracuse University where he played as a starting tailback. He made impressive records a college athlete including a 280 yards run in the International Bowl in the 2008 season.
His professional career started with the Baltimore Ravens who chose him as a second round pick in the National Football League Draft in 2008. In his first year as part of the Ravens, he recorded 22 carries and made one fumble which helped the team win against the Cincinnati Bengals in a game. He ended the 2008 season with a record of 273 receiving yards and 454 rushing yards. He also logged 33 receptions. His 2009 season, he logged his career-best total yards with 216 and 166 rushed yards. He recorded a total of 254 carries and seven touchdowns at the end of the season. He was named to the Pro Bowl in December of 2009.
