Ray Bare (full name: Raymond Douglas Bare; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1972 until 1977 for the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers. He played for the Cardinals from 1972 - 1974 and Tigers from 1975 - 1977. Over 5 seasons, he started 49 games, won 16 games, struck out 145 batters, and had a 4.79 ERA. Born on April 15, 1949 in Miami, FL, Bare stood 6' 2" and weighed 185 lb. He attended Southwest (Miami, FL) high school and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 3rd round of the 1969 amateur draft (January Secondary). His debut was on July 30, 1972 and he played his final game on May 3, 1977. Common misspellings of his name include Raymond Douglas Ray Bare.
