Ralph Kiner is a former Major League Baseball player and he is currently working as an announcer.
He had his Major League debut on April 16, 1946 with the well-known
Pittsburgh Pirates. Kiner’s amazing 23 home runs had led the National League during that season. It was in 1947 when he was cheered by many people as he hit 51 homers and compiling a powerful .313 batting average. Kiner was able to break his 1947 record in 1949 when he accomplished 54 home runs. He is also the first National League player to have done fifty-home run seasons. Kiner was then chosen to be in the All-Star Game in six consecutive seasons and that is from 1948 to 1953. He was then sent to the Cubs on June 1953 being a part of a ten-player trade. He ended his career with the
Cleveland Indians in the year 1955.
He was 32 years of age when he retired from his playing career. In his ten seasons, he accomplished 369 home runs and 1,019 powerful home runs and is ranked as the sixth-highest in the league’s history. It was in 1961 when he decided to be on the broadcast booth with the
Chicago White Sox. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in the year 1975 and also in the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1984.
