A retired Major League Baseball player, Ralph Joseph “Putsy” Caballero is an infielder for
Philadelphia Phillies. He is the youngest player to play in the major league as third base in baseball history. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies after he graduated in high school in 1944 at the age of sixteen. He ended his baseball career in the year 1955 still for the Phillies.
Putsy Caballero spent his high school at the Jesuit High School in the city of New Orleans state of Louisiana. He played baseball in the 1943 and 1944 season and won the American Legion championship. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1944 just as Granny Hamner joined the organization. Putsy has been offered by the Louisiana State University to sign for them but a scout for the
New York Giants,
Mel Ott advised him to sign to whatever team bids the most money.
During his major league career, he played for seventy none games in his first full season. In his entire major league career, Putsy Caballero has only posted one homerun and forty runs batted ins.

He played for the Blue Jays in 1944 and Phillies from 1945 - 1952. Over 8 seasons, he played 322 games, hit 1 home runs, drove in 81 runs, and stole 10 bases. Born on November 5, 1927 in New Orleans, LA, Caballero stands 5' 10" and weighs 170 lb. He attended Jesuit (New Orleans, LA) high school. His debut was on September 14, 1944 and he played his final game on September 27, 1952. Common misspellings of his name include Ralph Joseph Putsy Caballero.
