Purvis Short (full name: Purvis Short; no nicknames) played Forward-Guard from 1979 until 1990 for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets. Over 12 seasons, he played 842 games, scored 14607 points (17.3 ppg) and grabbed 3625 rebounds (4.3 rpg). Short also dished out 2123 assists (2.5 apg), made 878 steals (1.0 spg), and blocked 178 shots (0.2 bpg) during his career. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on July 2, 1957, Short stands 6-7 and weighs 210 lbs. He attended high school at Blair in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and college at Jackson State University. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 1st round (5th pick, 5th overall) of the 1978 NBA draft.
