About Preston Wilson Memorabilia & Collectibles
Preston Wilson is a former American pro baseball player who hailed from Bamberg, South Carolina. He both batted and threw right handed and played as center fielder for the New York Mets, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Washington Nationals, Houston Astros and the St. Louis Cardinals of the Major League Baseball. Wilson graduated from Bamberg-Earhart High School High School.
Wilson’s pro baseball career began when he was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 1992 amateur draft. Wilson spent some years in the minor league system before he was able to make it to the major league. He spent five seasons below Triple A and a single season in the Australian Baseball League in 1997 for the Hunter Eagles. Wilson finally reached the majors and made his debut on May 7, 1998.
However, just two weeks after joining the Mets, Wilson was traded to the Florida Marlins in exchange for Mike Piazza and was not however used by the Marlins and returned to the minor leagues instead for most of the season. After the 2002 season, Wilson, being involved in a six player deal, was sent to the Colorado Rockies, after which he spent his last few season in the league with other teams having his final game on May 5, 2007 for the St. Louis Cardinals.
