Phil Vandersea is a former American professional football player in the National Football League. He hails from Whitinsville, Massachusetts. Throughout his four season professional career in the National Football League, Vandersea played as linebacker, defensive end and tight end for two teams; the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints. Vandersea studied high school at Northbridge High and took his college studies at the University of Massachusetts where he played college football as well.

 

He was listed at 6 ft. 3 in. and 228 lbs. Vandersea started his professional football career after he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League in the 1965 NFL Draft. He was the sixteenth round pick of the team during the draft. Vandersea played with the Packers during the 1966 seasons after which he spent the next seasons with the New Orleans Saints. After the 1967 seasons, Vandersea joined back to the Packers and spend the rest of his last two seasons with the team from 1968 to 1969. Throughout the entire length of his career, Vandersea had participated in a total of forty six games.

Born in Whitinsville, MA on February 25, 1943, Vandersea stands 6'3 and weighs 245 lbs. He attended college at Massachusetts. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 16th round (220th overall) of the 1965 NFL Draft.
