Phil Russell (full name: Phil Russell; no nicknames) played defenseman from 1973 until 1987 for the Chicago Black Hawks, Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres. He played for the Black Hawks from 1973 - 1979, Flames from 1979 - 1980, Flames from 1981 - 1983, Devils from 1984 - 1986 and Sabres from 1986 - 1987. Over 15 seasons, he played 1016 games, scored 99 goals, and made 325 assists. Born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 21, 1952, Russell stands 6-2 and weighs 205 lbs. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1st round (13th overall) of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft.
