Phil Housley is a retired professional hockey player who first appeared with the Buffalo Bills in the National Hockey League. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Housley became a journeyman in the NHL. Other than that, Housley also played for the Unites States Hockey Team during the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. The team won the silver medal for that season.
Housley was a first round pick by the Buffalo Sabres during the 1982 NHL entry draft. He played for the Buffalo Sabres for a total of nine seasons. During his first season in the NHL, Housley was named into the All-Rookie team. In the succeeding year, Housley was named into the 1984 NHL All-Star Game and then consecutively from 1989 to 1993. His last appearance in an All-Star Game was in 2000.
After playing for a total of nine seasons with the Sabres, Housley was traded to the Winnepeg Jets where he stayed until 1994 when he was again traded but this time to St. Louis Blues. Other teams that Housley played for was the Calgary Flames, the New Jersey Devils, the Washington Capitals, the Calgary Flames, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Housley played for team America in 1984, 1987, and in 1996.

He played for the Sabres from 1983 - 1990, Jets from 1991 - 1993, Blues in 1994, Flames from 1995 - 2001, Devils in 1996, Capitals from 1997 - 1998, Blackhawks from 2002 - 2003 and Leafs in 2003. Over 21 seasons, he played 1495 games, scored 338 goals, and made 894 assists. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 9, 1964, Housley stands 5-10 and weighs 185 lbs. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Housley officially announced retirement on January 16, 2004.
