 Right handed pitcher Pete Harnisch is a retired professional Major League Baseball player. He became active in the league from 1988 all the way to 2001. He was born in Commack, New York and was a switch hitter while playing in the league. His professional career spanned fourteen seasons and spent all of that time playing for five different teams.

 

Harnisch was selected by the Baltimore Orioles during the first round of the amateur draft of 1987. Harnisch was made the 27th overall pick in that draft and signed with the team three days after. After playing primarily in the minors for the Orioles, Harnisch was traded to the Houston Astros in 1991. Harnisch was able to play for the Orioles for a short time before pitching in 21 games for the Astros. He was able to post a 2.71 ERA and recorded a 12-9 win-loss stat. For his performance in that season, he was named as an All-Star. In 1993, he was able to record four shutouts and was able to lead the National League for that feat.

 

Before playing professionally, Harnisch went to Fordham University and was able to come up with a 21-3 record with a 2.29 ERA.

Over 14 seasons, he started 318 games, won 111 games, struck out 1368 batters, and had a 3.89 ERA. Born on September 23, 1966 in Commack, NY, Harnisch stands 6' 1" and weighs 195 lb. He attended North (Commack, NY) high school and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st round (27th pick) of the 1987 amateur draft. His debut was on September 13, 1988 and he played his final game on May 7, 2001. Over his career, Harnisch made $26,393,400.
