About Pep Young:
Pep Young (full name: Lemuel Floyd Young; no nicknames) played second baseman, shortstop and third baseman from 1933 until 1945 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds. He played for the Pirates from 1933 - 1940, Cardinals from 1941 - 1945 and Reds in 1941. Over 10 seasons, he played 730 games, hit 32 home runs, drove in 274 runs, and stole 18 bases. Born on August 29, 1907 in Jamestown, NC (All Transactions), Young stood 5' 9" and weighed 162 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 25, 1933 and he played his final game on September 30, 1945. Common misspellings of his name include Lemuel Floyd Pep Young.
